Following the installation of a ‘zero emission’ platform and a three-well drilling campaign, Petrogas E&P Netherlands, a part of Oman-based Petrogas E&P LLC, has kicked off production from a gas field in the northern part of the Dutch North Sea.

Petrogas E&P Netherlands, together with its partners EBN, Rockrose, and TAQA, has tucked the achievement of the first gas under its belt from the A15 project in the Dutch North Sea. After project sanction at the end of March 2022, the company has worked with its key contracting partners to construct and install its ‘zero emission’ A15 platform, drill, and complete three wells, safely and without environmental incident.

These partners are Enersea, HSM Offshore Energy, Heerema Marine Contractors, Allseas, Noble Corporation, Bluestream, and DCN Diving. Petrogas awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the development of the A15 and B10 gas fields to Enersea back in August 2021. Aside from the FEED scope for the A15 and B10 gas fields, Enersea was tasked with delivering the subsea scope and the brownfield modifications on the A12 CPP platform.

Come April 2022, the Dutch company selected HSM Offshore Energy to construct two platforms for the project. Noble Corporation’s Noble Resolute jack-up rig was in charge of drilling three wells at the A15 field and two wells at the B10 field. As all three wells are now online, Petrogas highlights that this provides “much-needed domestic gas to the Netherlands.”

Nick Dancer , Petrogas’ COO, commented: “Great start for 2024 for Petrogas E&P bringing the A15 gas field on stream. 22 months from FID to first gas required a huge team effort, not just from the dedicated team in Petrogas but all of our contractors, to deliver safely and on schedule. Thank you all!”
