UK-based materials management and logistics firm ASCO has secured a five-year contract with BP Trinidad and Tobago, a subsidiary of the UK-headquartered energy giant BP.
Under the contract that came into effect at the start of the year, ASCO is providing supply base and pipeyard management services for the operator across 16 offshore assets in Trinidad.
Since 1961, BPTT has been active in Trinidad and Tobago, serving as the nation’s largest hydrocarbon producer and accounting for more than half of its gas output.
“Securing this contract, from the largest operator in the region is a huge achievement for the team and will be a strong foundation to further expand ASCO’s presence in the Caribbean region,” said Deborah Benjamin , Managing Director of Trinidad & Tobago.
“ASCO’s local team comprises one hundred percent local personnel. This contract, and the subsequent headcount increase enables us to provide further opportunities to the communities in which we operate in Trinidad.”
The award solidifies ASCO’s position in the region, with plans to push the local headcount up by 30%. Additionally, the firm is investing in equipment and infrastructure to deliver this work to the highest international standards.
Benjamin added: “Following this award, we have made substantive, seven figure (USD) investment to position us to deliver exceptional service standards to BP. Not only do we comply with all international standards, but we are also committed participants to the Trinidad and Tobago Safe to Work (STOW) accreditation standard. Safety Excellence is a fundamental obsession for ASCO globally and our Trinidad operations fully embrace this.”
After entering the Trinidad and Tobago market in 2000 to support BP, ASCO highlights that it has taken part in nurturing the local supply chain, building local capabilities, enforcing global standards, and establishing strong communities.

Back in June 2022, ASCO inked a deal with Kuldipsingh Port to provide technical expertise for supply base operations, which will allow it to support Suriname’s energy industry.
The Aberdeen-headquartered firm revealed that the agreement would enable it to support new oil and gas developments in Block 58 offshore Suriname and collaborate with local businesses to encourage regional investment and recruitment opportunities for local people.
In May 2023, Aquaterra Energy secured a “multi-million” deal for a subsea riser system through a tender with BP for the Cypre project off the southeast coast of Trinidad and Tobago. This contract will enable the company to provide a complete end-to-end managed service as a fully independent riser system and connector OEM.
