FSRU Transgas Power delivered to Dynagas

According to the LNG terminal operator Deutsche ReGas, Germany’s floating LNG terminal in the port of Mukran has begun trial operations.

The floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Energos Power reached the industrial port of Mukran and moored at berth 12 on February 24, the operator said, adding that the vessel is carrying liquid gas from Norway.

The trial follows the authorities’ approval for early commencement of operations, and as per Deutsche ReGas, its aim is to test all land and ship systems and put them into operation take.

Energos Power is the first of two regasification vessels planned for the Mukran terminal. Deutsche ReGas revealed that the second vessel, Neptune, located in the port of Lubmin , will leave that site in the spring of this year and commence operations in Mukran in the summer.

Once operational, a total of up to 13.5 bcm of natural gas can be fed into the German long-distance gas pipeline network via the Mukran energy terminal , the operator noted.

Stephan Knabe, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche ReGas, stated: “Deutsche ReGas has delivered again and is now in a position to make a greater contribution to the security of supply of Germany, especially East Germany, and also Eastern European neighboring countries.”

To note, Energos Power has been subchartered to Deutsche Regas. Marine LNG infrastructure company Energos Infrastructure announced the completion of the acquisition of the vessel from affiliates of Dynagas, an LNG maritime transportation company, at the beginning of the year.
