An anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel from Siem Offshore, a Norwegian shipping player, has been hired for the rest of the year by an undisclosed firm, which is said to be an international oil major.

The AHTS Siem Ruby will be engaged in operations beyond the boundaries of the North Sea, starting immediately. The 2010-built AHTS, which is of a VS 490 design, has 800 square meters of cargo space.

The 3,793 DWT vessel has an overall length of 91 meters and can accommodate 60 people. The main operations Siem Ruby is used for include towing and anchor handling, deepwater inspection, and construction work.

The new assignment for this AHTS comes shortly after Siem won new deals for two platform supply vessels (PSVs) off the coast of Brazil.
