U.S. provider of ammonia-to-power solutions Amogy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with compatriot W-Industries to examine opportunities for technology and engineering collaboration.
Amogy has developed an ammonia-to-electrical power system that splits, or “cracks”, liquid ammonia into its base elements of hydrogen and nitrogen and then funnels the hydrogen into a fuel cell, generating power at five times the energy density of lithium batteries. The technology is tailored for industries such as maritime shipping and power generation.
Under the MoU, Amogy and W-Industries intend to explore opportunities for efficiently scaling the design and fabrication of modularized and containerized variants of Amogy’s products. This includes the establishment of a joint commissioning and service-support structure for future projects and product deployments.

Amogy’s ammonia-to-electrical-power system will also be integrated as the primary propulsion method in the design of carbon-free electrical platform supply vessels (ePSVs) to be developed by Green Ships Invest.
Amogy and Green Ships recently strengthened their partnership, which was initiated in October 2023, by signing a “groundbreaking” commercial contract .
