Owner and operator of floating storage, production and offloading vessels (FPSO) Yinson Production has awarded Blue Water Shipping with a contract for the transport of modules for an FPSO destined for a project offshore Angola.

Under the logistics contract, Blue Water’s Floating Productions Systems (FPS) project team will oversee the transportation of the Agogo topside modules for the Agogo FPSO, ensuring the execution of all logistics involved.

The contract, deemed as “substantial” , involves the transportation of a total of 15 modules, with the heaviest weighing 3,211 metric tonnes.

The first transportation is scheduled for May and will include both domestic transportation within China and international transportation from Indonesia and Vietnam to China.

Anthony Zhuang , Head of Projects at Blue Water, said: “The confidence Yinson Production has placed in us is a real honour. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership brings and look forward to achieving shared success.”

The Agogo FPSO will be operated by Yinson Production in the West Hub field of Block 15/06 offshore Angola for Africa-based Azule Energy, a joint venture between BP and Eni. The Agogo field, located about 180 kilometers west of the coast of Angola, was discovered in 2019.

The lifting and installation operation of the first modules and the connection of the electrical system of the residential area for the FPSO were completed earlier this month at the shipyard where Yinson is carrying out the construction activities.

Yinson won the contract to deliver the FPSO Agogo in February 2023. In October of the same year, the company reported it was set to pilot an offshore carbon capture and storage (CCS) plant on the FPSO, said to be the world’s first post-combustion carbon capture unit installed onboard an FPSO.
