After TotalEnergies EP Danmark, a subsidiary of France’s energy giant TotalEnergies, brought its giant redevelopment project in the Danish sector of the North Sea online, the first gas supplies exported by the Tyra hub have reached the onshore facilities in Nybro, Denmark, to be distributed to the consumers.

The gas production from Tyra II , deemed Denmark’s largest natural gas field, was restarted more than four and a half years after it was stopped to embark on the extensive redevelopment of the project. The project is expected to produce 5.7 million cubic meters of gas and 22,000 barrels of condensate per day at a plateau.

TotalEnergies has confirmed, on behalf of its partners in the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC), that the Tyra redevelopment project continues to move ahead according to plan with the valves at the Nybro Gas Treatment Plant opening on March 28.

As a result, this enabled the first gas to be exported to the Danish market from Tyra II. The gas from the Tyra hub will be delivered to Europe through two export pipelines to Nybro in Denmark and Den Helder in the Netherlands. The DUC is a partnership between TotalEnergies (operator, 43.2%), BlueNord (36.8%), and Nordsøfonden (20%).

“In the next steps, the gas flow from Tyra wells and satellite fields will be gradually re-established. The Tyra hub will enable Denmark to become once again self-sufficient and net exporter of natural gas,” emphasized the operator.

Once the gas flow from Harald , Svend , Roar , and Valdemar , and the wells from the Tyra field, including Southeast, West, and East, has been re-established, this project is expected to deliver 2.8 billion cubic meters of gas per year, amounting to 80% of the forecasted Danish gas production.
