UK-headquartered energy giant BP has prolonged its collaboration with Petrofac, a compatriot oilfield services provider, for work at its oil and gas assets in the North Sea.
The contract extension with BP will enable Petrofac to continue supporting the oil major across its North Sea portfolio with maintenance and engineering services, which will be provided under the terms of the three-year, multi-million-dollar deal.
Nick Shorten , Chief Operating Officer of Petrofac’s Asset Solutions business, commented: “Petrofac has supported BP in the North Sea for 15 years. This award is testament to delivering shared goals of increased efficiency and asset life extension. We look forward to continuing this relationship, delivering safe and reliable operations.”
While the latest extension builds on the multi-year relationship the duo has forged in the North Sea, Petrofac also supports BP’s assets elsewhere. In line with this, the UK energy giant hired Petrofac on a long-term contract in January 2024 for work at its Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project off the coasts of Mauritania and Senegal.
The oilfield services player recently secured a contract extension in the Southern North Sea with ONEgas West. This follows Petrofac’s North Sea deals from October 2023 for decommissioning work with Saipem and a three-year contract extension for maintenance services with Repsol Sinopec.
