Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming has completed its inaugural B24 biofuel bunkering supply in Shenzhen, China, with support from Banle Energy, a subsidiary of marine fuel logistics company Banle Group.
On April 14, Banle Energy, in collaboration with PetroChina Fuel Oil, arranged B24 biofuel bunkering services for Yang Ming’s vessel YM Utility at a port in Yantian, Shenzhen.
According to Banle Energy, the transaction marked the first B24 biofuel supply in Shenzhen and Yang Ming’s inaugural B24 biofuel bunkering supply in China.
Teck Lim Chia , Banle Energy’s Chairman and CEO, said: “We are pleased to be part of Yang Ming’s first B24 biofuel bunkering supply in China. This service aligns with our initial initiative of introducing B24 biofuel bunkering in Hong Kong and exporting B24 biofuel to China. As a stakeholder in the shipping industry, we remain committed to promoting biofuel to reduce GHG emissions.”
To remind, the company conducted the first B24 biofuel bunke ring operation in Hong Kong in July 2023.
Earlier this year, Yang Ming revealed its decision to adopt sustainable biofuel into its fleet to respond to the 2050 net-zero emissions goal.
By embracing biofuel, the shipping company wants to achieve a substantial reduction of approximately 20% in carbon emissions compared to conventional fuel oil.
