Dutch towage and maritime company KOTUG International has chosen EST-Floattech’s containerized energy storage solution with Octopus Series for the E-Pusher 1, an electric pusher tug.
The Octopus Energy Storage System has been specifically designed for maritime needs, including fully electric and hybrid propulsion. EST-Floattech’s team has been working on the containerized solution with Octopus High Energy modules. The container was designed and constructed in a little over half a year.
This containerized solution will provide the energy that allows the E-Pusher to make about three trips from Zaandam to Amsterdam and back, according to EST-Floattech.

KOTUG recently signed a framework agreement with compatriot shipbuilding and ship repair specialist Padmos to build ‘the complete lineup’ of E-Pusher, an electric pusher tug.
The E-Pusher series embodies advanced technology and propulsion systems, establishing a new standard in emission-free navigation. The vessels are equipped to eliminate harmful emissions, including carbon dioxide (CO2), sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter (PM).
