LNG-powered Silver Ray delivered to Silversea

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft has delivered liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered cruise ship Silver Ray to Monaco-based cruise company Silversea Cruises.

As informed, Silver Ray is the second ship in Silversea’s new Nova class series. The ship is fitted with dual-fuel LNG engines complemented with a fuel cell system with an output of four megawatts. The fuel cells and a battery system will supply the ship with enough electricity to power the entire hotel operation, enabling the cruise vessel to eliminate pollutant emissions while the ship is in port.

The delivery ceremony took place in Eemshaven, Netherlands on May 14, 2024.

The steel-cutting ceremony for Silver Ray was held in November 2022, while the keel was laid in March 2023.
