Norway-headquartered seismic player PGS has won a new contract in West Africa with an undisclosed firm, which is said to be an international energy company.
Thanks to this deal, one of the Norwegian firm’s vessels will undertake 4D seismic work in West Africa after wrapping up its European acquisition assignments. The vessel is slated to start mobilization activities in early September. The assignment is expected to take approximately 65 days, but the contract also comes with an extension option, thus, the deal may be prolonged.
Rune Olav Pedersen , President & CEO of PGS, explained: “We are very pleased with this contract award, securing visibility for another of our vessels well into the fourth quarter. After completion of scheduled acquisitions programs during the Northern Europe summer season we will steam a vessel to West Africa to commence this contract .”

PGS has secured several new jobs for its vessels recently. In April 2024, the firm won a 4D seismic data contract in Northern Europe with an unnamed energy company. The mobilization of the Ramform Tethys vessel was planned in late April for survey work spanning around 30 days in total.
By the end of 2023, PGS completed reflagging its entire fleet of owned vessels to Norway, driven by the global geopolitical situation. The process began with the Ramform Vanguard, registered with the Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS) in August 2021, and concluded with the Ramform Tethys on December 5, 2023.
