Saipem wins $850 million contract with BP-Eni joint venture

Italian oilfield services provider Saipem has secured a contract worth approximately $850 million to deliver subsea equipment for a field located offshore Angola.

Saipem will perform the engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of subsea facilities and approximately 60 kilometers of rigid pipelines at a depth of around 1,100 meters, and the transportation and installation of flexible flowlines, jumpers and 17 kilometers of umbilical for the Ndungu Field as part of Agogo Integrated West Hub Project.

The offshore contract has been signed with Azule Energy Angola, a subsidiary of Azule Energy, an incorporated joint venture between Eni and BP.

Fabrication activities will be executed at Saipem’s Ambriz yard in Angola. For the offshore installation campaign, the company expects to deploy its FDS vessel for the transportation and laying of the rigid pipelines.

The Italian oilfield services provider said that it sees the award as an important project that further consolidates its positioning in Angola, both in deep waters and in shallow waters, through the provision of innovative and efficient solutions to reduce installation times.

Azule Energy was established in August 2022 as a 50/50 joint venture between BP and Eni through the combination of the companies’ Angolan businesses. It is said to be Angola’s largest producer.

The joint venture’s Agogo Integrated West Hub development project is located in the West Hub of Block 15/06. Strides have been made in constructing an FPSO for this project with the lifting and installation operation of the first modules and the connection of the electrical system of the residential area for the FPSO at the shipyard where Yinson is carrying out these construction activities.
