French floating solar company Ciel & Terre has finished the construction of the Saint Savin floating solar project in Isère, France.

Saint Savin is an 11 MWp floating solar project being developed on a quarry lake by Énerg’isère and built by EGREGA and Ciel & Terre. According to Ciel & Terre, the expected generated power will be enough to provide for the needs of Saint Savin municipality.

In January, Ciel & Terre started the construction of this 11 MWp project, which will transform a quarry lake into a renewable energy hub, and in February, the company completed anchoring and assembling the floating solar system.

“Meanwhile the operation of the gravel pit will continue, floating solar plants being compatible with such other activities with a tailored project engineering,” said Ciel & Terre.

“This project is the first of a whole of 100 MWp to be installed in 2024 by Ciel & Terre, and also the first project in France which uses the latest version of our technology, the Hydrelio aiR Optim.”

The Hydrelio aiR Optim is said to be compatible with almost all photovoltaic (PV) panels available on the market, and highly modular, with a wide range of configurations that can meet the performance requirements of each project.

According to the company, the aiR Optim version facilitates the operation of the power plant due to a new float design that reportedly makes it easier to operate on, manage wires, and install junction boxes and/or string inverters.
