French cable laying and repair operations company Orange Marine has renewed and expanded its service contract with a compatriot provider of data integration and analysis services for the maritime and offshore industry as part of its move to advance fleet digitalization and operational efficiency.
The partnership between Orange and Opsealog started with a three-month trial in May 2023 on the cable-laying vessel (CLV) Pierre de Fermat, which was after the trials renewed in September with the aim of extending Opsealog’s solutions to additional vessels in the fleet.
As of this April, the contract has been further extended to encompass three more Orange Marine vessels and Opsealog’s tools Marinsights and Streamlog are now being deployed on four vessels.
According to Orange, the key achievements of the partnership to date include the digitalization of the fleet through the implementation of monthly reports detailing vessel operational profiles, automated tracking and reporting of CO2 and SOx emissions to comply with upcoming environmental regulations, and precise documentation of vessel activity, including hours spent in transit, operations, and stand-by in port.
The collaboration has also supported the development of new features tailored to Orange Marine’s needs, such as marine mammal monitoring and reporting.

To remind, Orange took delivery of its new cable laying and repair vessel (CLRV) designed for the maintenance of cables for offshore wind projects in the summer of 2023.
The newbuild vessel, designed by Norway’s VARD and of the VARD 9 03 design, is 100 meters long, has a beam of 18.8 meters and a deadweight capacity of 1,800 DWT, can achieve a speed of 14.5 knots and has accommodation facilities for 76 persons. It has three cable tanks to carry fiber optic and power cables, one of which is fitted with a carousel system.
