ABL, part of ABL Group, has won a contract with the Indonesian branch of Malaysia’s energy giant Petronas to provide rig inspection services to the latter’s assets in Indonesian waters.

Under the one-year contract, which comes with a one-year option, ABL’s Indonesian team in Jakarta will provide various services, including rig assurance, equipment-focused inspections, drilling readiness peer reviews, client representation, and technical risk assessment as needed.

“Our rig inspection experts have extensive industry experience and in-depth knowledge across all types of rigs. We have a well-developed set-up that is tailored to make the rig inspection process as efficient, consistent and transparent as possible while also de-risking the impact of rig operations on the local marine environments,” noted Deddy Setiyatno , ABL Indonesia Country Manager.

The Malaysian player has been keeping busy in Indonesia, hoping to unlock its hydrocarbon potential which it deems to be vast. In May, the firm signed a new production sharing contract (PSC) offshore of West Papua and prolonged an existing one in the Java Sea.

Meanwhile, ABL opened an office in Romania to support the offshore energy and maritime markets in the Black Sea. This enabled the Norwegian firm to source staff for on-site operations from the Romanian office after it was selected by OMV Petr o m to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services for Neptun Deep , a natural gas project described as the largest one in the Romanian area of the Black Sea.
