Singapore-based ship management company Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has taken delivery of its second duel-fuel pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai).
As informed, the delivery ceremony took place on July 22, 2024, in China. The company noted that the construction of the 7,000 CEU PCTC was completed on schedule, while also summarizing the experience of building the first vessel. The vessel, which uses liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a fuel, was named CMA CGM Silverstone.
To remind, the first vessel built for EPS was handed over in November last year.
As part of its decarbonization efforts, EPS decided to install LNG fuel and green technology on the vessel. The move is a “testament of EPS’ commitment to the development of green, low carbon vessels supporting the industry’s decarbonization goals,” the company highlighted.
The ship will also feature a shaft generator, shore, and battery power.
EPS recently took delivery of the last of six 210,000 dwt LNG dual-fuel Newcastlemax bulkers from New Times Shipbuilding (NTS) in China.
Mount Ossa is the last vessel in EPS’ series of six 210,000 dwt dual-fuel bulkers chartered to London-based metals and mining corporation Rio Tinto.
