Dutch dedicated cable repair and installation vessel completes first project

N-Sea Group’s recently launched dedicated subsea cable repair and installation vessel has completed its first cable replacement project and is carrying out another one for the same client.

N-Sea and its partner Neptune Marine Service converted the anchored barge NP-459 into a dedicated cable repair DP2 vessel named Curo, launching the vessel in early June .

The Dutch company reported today, August 14, that Curo had completed its first cable replacement project in Germany and is currently performing a similar project for the same client.

Due to the postponement of the next cable installation project, the vessel will be available for short- or longer-term projects from the end of this month. The DP2 SPS60 multi-purpose vessel has a 50t offshore crane, an eight-point mooring system, a light work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and a full cable laying and repair deck spread with a minimum bending radius of 5 meters. According to N-Sea, the purpose-built 400t dual-basket carousel can handle both HVAC and HVDC cables.

N-Sea recently made a number of moves to strengthen its fleet and subsea activities. Namely, the company in November 2023 entered into an agreement with Rederij Groen to long-term charter the 4-WINDS vessel and extended its long-term charter agreement with Braveheart Marine for the Braveheart Spirit vessel.

Then in January N-Sea announced it had chartered the hybrid, fuel-efficient survey and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) support vessel Geo Ranger and entered into an agreement with Rederij Groen to long-term charter the modern offshore support vessel Aquarius-G . Last month it was reported that N-Sea had concluded the full acquisition of compatriot company Geo Plus.
