UK energy sector construction, maintenance & enhancement solutions player Global Energy Group is set to soon launch a recruitment drive to cover key fabrication operations at one of its facilities, following a new contract with Subsea7.
Global Energy Group has been awarded another contract from Subsea7 Norway, which will see the fabrication of 134 subsea spools for the Aker BP-operated Yggdrasil project in the North Sea, described as the next major field development on the Norwegian shelf with gross resources of more than 700 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Yggdrasil will be remotely operated from an integrated operations center and control room onshore in Stavanger. Aker BP started the construction phase in September 2023 , and the first five of the nine subsea templates were installed in July.
Global Energy Group will carry out the fabrication from its multi-user energy facility at the Port of Nigg.
Fabrication will commence this summer and will take two years. Due to the size and scale of the contract, Global Energy Group said it would shortly be undertaking a substantial recruitment drive focused on key fabrication operations at the Port of Nigg.

Global Energy Group has recently been busy working for Aker BP’s projects on behalf of Subsea7. Namely, the company in January announced it had won a contract to fabricate subsea spools and anode sled structures for Aker BP’s East Kameleon project, part of the larger Alvheim field.
A couple of months later, Global Energy Group finished the fabrication process of two towheads, complete with equipment interface support frames and buoyancy tank interface frame, for the Aker BP-operated Valhall PWP-Fenris field.
