Ocean Energy Europe (OEE), a network of ocean energy professionals, has appointed two new members to its Board of Directors.
One appointee comes from Spiralis Energy, a London-based tidal energy start-up, and the other from EDF, a French energy giant.

Emmanuel Bouyge , Director of Innovation Projects at EDF, will represent EDF on the OEE Board of Directors. EDF, a producer of low-carbon electricity in Europe, aims to double its renewable energy share by 2030.
Through EDF Pulse Ventures, EDF invests in various renewable technologies and projects, aiming to double the energy share of renewable energies by 2030, said OEE. By joining OEE as a lead partner, EDF shows interest in innovative technologies with high potential such as wave, osmotic, floating , and tidal.
“We are very happy to welcome EDF to our Board of Directors. This addition underscores the great strides ocean energy has made recently. EDF brings the weight of a long-time investor in Renewable Energy. Their expertise in innovative technologies and project development will be key as we take the next steps towards commercialisation. I look forward to working with Emmanuel and the EDF team,” said Rémi Gruet , CEO of OEE.
Guy Levene , Chief Executive of Spiralis Energy, will also join the OEE Board of Directors. Spiralis Energy is developing its first full-scale tidal device and is testing a prototype of its Axial Skelter screws in Alderney. The solution is modular, scalable, and made from recycled materials.
“As a new developer in the tidal market, it is a pleasure for us to engage, at Board level, with industry professionals and to assist in raising awareness of the tremendous potential in this sector. We look forward to the OEE making a significant impact as the continent moves towards net zero and beyond,” said the CEO of Spiralis Energy, Levene .

In March, OEE selected new Co-Presidents and Directors to lead the ocean energy sector through a transitional period, shifting from testing phases to establishing pre-commercial farms. The same month, Swedish bearing and seal manufacturing company SKF took part in the Board of OEE as a lead partner.
