Eco Marine Power and Aries Marine join hands on ship technology projects

Japan’s Eco Marine Power has signed a cooperation agreement with UAE’s Aries Marine and Engineering Services on innovative ship technology projects.

According to Eco Marine Power, the deal covers several fields including installation services, system testing, electrical engineering design and after-sales support.

Eco Marine Power aims to “revolutionize” the maritime industry through sustainable energy solutions such as its patented Aquarius MRE solution, an integrated system of rigid sails, marine-grade solar panels, energy storage modules, charging system and marine computers that is said to enable ships to tap into renewable energy by harnessing the power provided by the wind and sun.

The Japanese company revealed that elements of this system are currently being installed on a bulk cargo ship, noting that Aries Marine has joined this project and will initially assist with the installation of the ship’s data management and solar power systems.

Aries Marine specializes in engineering, inspection and maintenance services, particularly for the maritime and offshore industries. While headquartered in Sharjah, UAE, the company has branches in locations including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Africa, Europe, China and the USA.

According to Eco Marine Power, together the two companies will explore opportunities to deploy Eco Marine Power’s solutions worldwide and expand the range of services that Aries Marine can offer clients especially related to ship-based renewable energy solutions.
