Offshore Frontier Solutions, a MODEC Group company, has joined forces with Toyo Engineering India to establish a global capability center in Bengaluru, India, which will be a joint venture company, called TOYO MODEC OFS India (OFS India).

Offshore Frontier Solutions, a joint venture company formed by MODEC and Toyo Engineering Corporation in 2022, has pooled resources with Toyo Engineering India to establish a global capability center in India to execute front end engineering and design (FEED), detailed engineering, and provide procurement support for the topsides of floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) projects, among its primary business activities.

These endeavors will focus on the topside of FPSO and floating storage and offloading (FSO) projects, ensuring high quality, efficient execution, and setting new standards in offshore engineering, according to Toyo. The establishment of OFS India follows the company’s recent announcement about the opening of an execution center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (OFS Malaysia).

Soichi Ide , President and CEO of OFS in Singapore, commented: “These strategic moves are part of the company’s expansion plan to continue to extend our capabilities and services to support our global clients. Besides enhancing our global footprint, OFS India and OFS Malaysia allow us to adapt quickly to changing business needs and market demands. They also provide access to a diverse pool of skilled professionals that we can tap on to boost our expertise and innovation.”

Toyo explains that OFS India, which expects to begin operation in Bengaluru around April 2025, will operate exclusively with OFS Singapore to deliver FEED, detailed engineering and procurement support service.

The company elaborated: “Establishment of Global Capability Centre through this joint venture reflects Toyo’s commitment to pursue fresh avenues for expansion and success. Our objective is to deepen our regional presence enhancing our capabilities for continuous growth.”

Offshore Frontier Solutions is working on the engineering , procurement, and construction work for the FPSO Errea Wittu , which will be situated on ExxonMobil’s $12.7 billion Uaru project , sanctioned in April 2023.

Recently, MODEC outlined its decarbonization plan as part of the path to net zero by 2050, tackling power generation issues, which it identified as the main culprit for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, accounting for 65% of its carbon footprint.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has boosted its stake in MODEC to 15%, as a way to build stronger ties between partners and enhance the competitiveness of their offshore businesses. In addition, MODEC and Toray Industries won approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for their process for in-situ ship repairs of FPSO and FSO systems.
