Canada’s oil and gas player Trillion Energy is progressing with velocity string operations on its production platform at a gas field offshore Türkiye.
Following last month’s start of velocity string (VS) installation at the SASB natural gas field – holding Akçakoca-3 , Guluc-2 , South Akçakoca-2 , and West Akçakoca-1 wells – the production at Akçakoca-3 increased from approximately 2.0 MMcf/d to 2.6 MMcf/d, representing a 30% boost in natural gas output. The firm said it was continuing to monitor production from the well.
On October 30, 2024, a 2-3/8″ velocity string was introduced into the West Akçakoca-1 well using the snubbing unit. The operation was completed the next day when the velocity string reached a measured depth of 3,496 meters. The West Akçakoca-1 well was not producing before the operation, with gas production anticipated to resume following nitrogen stimulation.
Following the installation of 3,502 meters of velocity string tubing, Guluc-2 was officially completed on November 8. Four days later, snubbing operations started on South Akçakoca-2.

On November 16, a liquid nitrogen unit arrived at the platform. According to Trillion, this inert, environmentally friendly, and effective material will be used for enhancing production by reducing wellbore pressure and enhancing gas flow. This forms part of its strategy to unlock the full potential of each natural gas well.

The Canadian player also recently shared it was achieving $1 million in monthly revenue, focusing on generating $24 million in annual revenue by the end of 2025. Its strategy relies on driving natural gas growth, creating new opportunities to fuel sustainable expansion, and providing value to shareholders.
“With production stabilizing through our SASB Velocity String Program, our natural gas wells are positioned to unlock up to $2 million in monthly revenue. Approaching total capacity will mark a significant milestone, strengthening our financial position and opening new strategic opportunities for growth,” said Trillion.
The velocity string program forms part of the second stage of the workover program intended to revitalize the field and sustain long-term natural gas production. Phase 1, which entailed perforation operations , was completed in mid-August .
