Seatrium Letourneau USA (SLET), a subsidiary of the Singapore-headquartered provider of offshore, marine, and energy solutions Seatrium, has joined forces with India’s government-owned Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) to bring to life mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs), which will be designed specifically to meet the needs of the Indian offshore market.

To make this happen, Seatrium and Cochin have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly design and supply critical equipment for jack-up rigs destined for the Indian market by leveraging the letter’s experience in ship construction and engineering and the former’s technical expertise and design capabilities.

“This collaboration represents a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to advancing India’s offshore energy industry with innovative, reliable, and efficient solutions. We are confident that this will bring meaningful value to the industry and look forward to a successful partnership,” underlined Seatrium.

The deal with the Indian shipyard comes shortly after the Singapore player delivered the final unit in a multi-rig series to Borr Drilling, which was completed almost a year before it was due. Recently, the firm also held a steel-cutting ceremony for one of two floating storage, production, and offloading (FPSO) units it is building for Brazil’s Petrobras.

A few weeks ago, Seatrium landed several contracts for repairs and upgrades from various partners across several industry segments.
