In response to growing demand for decarbonization solutions within the global energy sector, the UK-based Verlume, an energy management and energy storage firm, is pooling resources with Proserv, an Aberdeen-headquartered controls specialist, to enhance subsea power delivery offering.
To this end, Proserv and Verlume inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU), aiming to explore collaborative opportunities in the subsea power and renewable sectors, in a bid to unlock innovative technologies and bring them to the rapidly evolving clean energy market.

Under the terms of the MoU, the duo will integrate Proserv’s subsea control and communications systems with Verlume’s energy management and battery technology to improve the efficiency of subsea power delivery, reducing energy consumption by as much as 50% and significantly improving operational flexibility, reliability, and reducing costs.
The integrated approach is anticipated to create a unique market offering to provide reliable power to remote, subsea assets, enabling the two players to explore potential projects that leverage their combined expertise to secure new business, boost efficiency, and support the global transition to sustainable energy.

Both companies have joined forces with other industry players to drive decarbonization forward. In line with this, Verlume teamed up with SeaTwirl a few months ago to collaborate on the electrification of offshore assets to curb the oil and gas industry’s carbon footprint.
Last month, Proserv joined hands with Mocean Energy to accelerate the shift to low-carbon solutions for underwater operations.
