Canadian Wave-powered desalination innovator Oneka Technologies and Chile-based Asfalcom have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deploy wave-powered desalination technology at Asfalcom’s production facility in Chile, marking a first for industrial water users in South America.
According to Oneka Technologies, this collaboration will see the integration of the company’s ocean wave-powered desalination system, providing a sustainable water supply while reducing land and water consumption footprints.
The project aims to enhance water security for industrial operations , demonstrating both companies’ commitment to sustainable innovation, Oneka Technologies noted.
“This partnership with Asfalcom is a testament to our mission of providing innovative water solutions that align with sustainable development goals,” said Dragan Tutic , CEO of Oneka Technologies.
“We are thrilled to bring our wave-powered technology to Chile and work alongside Asfalcom in addressing the water challenges of the region.”
The project also signifies Oneka Technologies’ entry into the South American market, a region characterized by a strong demand for sustainable water solutions.

In April 2023, Oneka Technologies unveiled the opening of its subsidiary in Chile, following the successful demonstration of its wave energy-powered desalination technology in the country.
