Inch Cape Offshore Limited, a joint venture between Red Rock Power Limited and ESB, has awarded TKF with a turnkey contract to supply and install inter-array cables at the Inch Cape offshore wind farm. Additionally, Vestas has secured a firm order to deliver its V236-15.0 MW wind turbines to the 1.1 GW project.
The firm order for wind turbines refers to the conditional agreement announced on September 30, 2024.
Vestas is responsible for the supply, installation, and commissioning of 72 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines. Upon completion, the Danish company will provide a ten-year service agreement, followed by an operational support agreement.
The wind turbines will be installed by Denmark’s Cadeler under a contract signed with the project developer in June.
The XXL monopiles that will hold Vestas’ 15 MW wind turbines will be supplied by Chinese manufacturers Dajin Offshore Heavy Industry and Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Heavy Industry (GWSHI).
“Securing the full notice to proceed on the agreement is a great milestone for the project. The 72 V236-15.0 MW turbines are the latest state-of-the-art turbines from Vestas and will generate more than 5TWh of renewable electricity each year, making an important contribution to the UK’s energy security and representing a valuable reduction in carbon emissions,” said John Hill , Inch Cape Project Director.
When it comes to TKF, the Dutch company has been awarded a contract for the inter-array cables and will be responsible for the 66 kV inter-array aluminum core cables and accessories, with a total length of 152 kilometers.
The extensive scope of work includes the engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, and installation of the inter-array cables and corresponding accessories.
The contract has a total value of approximately €200 million. To qualify as a firm and unconditional order in TKF’s order book, the project is subject to financial close and the notice to proceed from Inch Cape Offshore Limited.
The Inch Cape project site is located in the Scottish North Sea, 15 kilometers off the Angus coast, with the installation harbor based at the Port of Dundee.
According to the current state of planning, wind turbine installation is scheduled to begin in 2026, and the wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2027, said Vestas.
