U.S.-based Commonwealth LNG, which is developing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal project near Cameron, Louisiana, has appointed a new member to the positions of General Counsel and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
The roles will be assumed by David Lang, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. degree from The University of Texas School of Law. Before practicing law, he worked as a reservoir engineer at ExxonMobil.

According to Commonwealth, Lang has extensive experience in the LNG sector, most recently as a Partner at King & Spalding’s Corporate practice, where he focused on energy infrastructure development, acquisition, and disposition, with a particular focus on LNG projects.
He also assisted clients in the United States and abroad in the upstream, midstream, renewable energy, and petrochemical sectors, on matters related to gas supply, liquefaction, marketing and shipping, regasification, and gas sales.

The U.S. player is in what it says are advanced stages of developing a 9.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) Commonwealth LNG export facility in Cameron, Louisiana. Kimmeridge Texas Gas (KTG) upped its stake in the terminal in June when it was disclosed that the final investment decision (FID) is expected in the first half of 2025.
Glencore recently signed a heads of terms (HoT) for 2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG for 20 years from the future export terminal and equivalent natural gas supply from KTG under a netback agreement.
