France-based Sercel, a designer and manufacturer of high-tech solutions for subsurface exploration and part of Viridien, has secured a contract with a marine geophysical company to deploy its new marine seismic source in the Gulf of Mexico.
Sercel will deploy its Tuned Pulse Source (TPS) and related support services for the geophysical company to acquire an ultralong-offset ocean-bottom node (OBN) survey in the Gulf of Mexico, which started in November.
According to the company, the TPS is a marine seismic source that provides geophysical clarity by improving low-frequency content while also supporting important environmental benefits.
The solution is said to deliver exceptionally low-frequency content and the highest amplitude signals at frequencies below 3 Hz, crucial for building accurate velocity models with the latest elastic full-waveform inversion technology when targeting complex geologies and deep targets with long offsets.
