South Korean HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) has obtained approval in principle (AiP) from the classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR) for the design concept of an 88,000 cbm next-generation eco-friendly very large ammonia carrier (VLAC).
LR verified the design’s suitability, structural safety and compliance with international regulations, HJSC said, adding that, through this concept design approval, the company plans to actively respond to the growing demand in the decarbonized ship market.
