Sungrow Hydrogen, a subsidiary of China’s energy solutions company Sungrow, has signed a supply agreement with Indian renewable energy company ACME to provide water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment for the latter’s 320 MW green ammonia project in Oman.
Under the agreement, Sungrow Hydrogen will provide multiple sets of 1000 Nm3/h alkaline (ALK) hydrogen production equipment and flexible green hydrogen production solutions for the project, with the delivery expected to be completed within 2025.
As disclosed, the 320 MW Oman project is anticipated to begin operations in 2026, and upon commencement, the initial capacity for green ammonia production will be 300 tonnes per day.
Note that, at the beginning of 2024, ACME signed a long-term firm and binding agreement with Norwegian ammonia trade and shipping company Yara for the supply of 100,000 tons per annum of ammonia produced in Oman with reduced CO2 emissions.
“The renewable ammonia from Oman will be part of our scalable distribution system, developing a reliable, safe, and cost-efficient supply chain for low-emission ammonia across different market segments,” Magnus Ankarstrand , President of Yara Clean Ammonia, stated at the time.
As for Sungrow Hydrogen, the supplier seeks to collaborate with global partners to jointly advance the development of green hydrogen projects, powering up the global green hydrogen industry.
In 2024, the company’s electrolyzer products were set to receive certifications from CE and TÜV. Additionally, its 20 MW water electrolysis hydrogen production empirical platform has been granted with ‘Laboratory Accreditation Certificate’ by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS).
Furthermore, ‘Plant Number 2’ of the Sungrow Hydrogen Intelligent Manufacturing Centre has recently become operational. This facility, reportedly, features China’s first automated assembly line for ALK electrolyzers, which is expected to boost production efficiency by 60%. As a result, the company’s annual production capacity has now increased to 3 GW, Sungrow Hydrogen said.
