UK-headquartered AIS has secured a contract for the Mero 4 oil field, located approximately 200 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

UK-headquartered AIS has secured a subsea insulation contract for the Mero 4 oil field in Brazil, representing its fifth award for insulation systems in the region.

The company will supply its ContraTherm C25 insulation system for the production pipeline end termination (PLET) and production and water alternating gas jumpers.

This marks AIS’ fifth award for these structures in the region, further building on its track record of delivering reliable subsea insulation solutions for Brazil’s subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF) projects over the past three years.

“We have firmly established ourselves as a trusted supplier for SURF projects in the region. With a fully qualified insulation system for major EPC clients, this is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our teams,” said Andrew Bennion , CEO of AIS.

According to the company, ContraTherm C25 provides flow assurance for complex subsea equipment even in high-pressure and high-temperature environments. C25 has been in service for over 12 years and is suitable for operating temperatures of up to 150 °C and water depths of 3,000 meters.

The unitized Mero field in the pre-salt Santos Basin, which is part of the Libra consortium, is operated by Petrobras (38.6%), in partnership with Shell Brasil (19.3%), TotalEnergies (19.3%), CNPC (9.65%), CNOOC (9.65%), and Pré-Sal Petróleo SA – PPSA (3.5%), as the Brazilian government’s representative in the non-contracted area.

In December 2024, CRP Subsea, part of AIS, was hired to supply its distributed buoyancy modules (DBMs) to a deepwater oil field project in the pre-salt Santos Basin, off the coast of Brazil.
