Tekmar Group has been awarded a contract for the delivery of its cable protection system (CPS) and associated ancillaries for a UK-based offshore wind project.

The contract is valued in the region of £5 million (approximately €6 million). The UK-based company will be responsible for the design and supply of its flagship Generation 10 CPS and associated ancillaries, including cable hang-off clamps.

“We are delighted to be partnering with this client for the first time on a project of this size as part of their Engineering Procurement, Construction and Installation (“EPCI”) scope of supply,” said Richard Turner , CEO of Tekmar Group.

“Tekmar has been selected because of our integrated offering, including our early-stage engineering support, our customer focus and our track record which is unrivalled in the industry. We will design and deliver next generation protection solutions to this landmark project in the UK, this is testament to the differentiated value that Tekmar brings to protecting offshore assets.”

According to Tekmar , the project will commence immediately, with delivery scheduled for completion in 2025.

The UK has set a target for 50 GW of offshore wind by 2030, including 5 GW of floating offshore wind. In the latest Contract for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round (AR6), the government awarded CfDs to offshore wind projects totaling approximately 5.3 GW in generation capacity.

Recently, the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) unveiled new measures to minimize underwater noise levels during the construction of offshore wind projects.

As part of the government’s Plan for Change, the measures should reduce noise levels in the sea to allow new offshore wind projects to be built at pace, particularly in sensitive areas.
