Norway-headquartered offshore drilling contractor Dolphin Drilling has appointed an interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after the resignation of its previous leader.
Jon Oliver Bryce was appointed interim CEO of Dolphin Drilling following Bjørnar Iversen ‘s decision to resign from the post which he held since July 2019.

“The chapter titled Dolphin Drilling is now over for me after 6 years. I have agreed with the board that the very competent Jon Oliver Bryce, whom I recruited to Dolphin a year ago, will now take over as CEO. The time has come for me to move on to the next challenge. It has been a true pleasure working with such fantastic people at Dolphin Drilling,” said Iversen .
With over 30 years of experience in the drilling industry, Bryce currently holds the position of Chief Strategy Officer at Dolphin Drilling. Before joining the company, he held senior positions, including leadership roles at Awilco Drilling and Odfjell Drilling.
The interim CEO has a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the supervisory board of the UK Chamber of Shipping and the chair of the British Rig Owners Association.
Late last year, the drilling contractor disclosed having received positive outcomes in two rig termination cases. In December, Dolphin won an arbitration dispute with General Hydrocarbons related to the Blackford Dolphin ’s canceled deployment off the coast of Nigeria.
A month before that, the Norwegian firm struck a deal with EnQuest to receive compensation for the early termination of a drilling assignment the Borgland Dolphin was supposed to carry out on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).
