U.S.-headquartered oilfield services company Halliburton has secured what it says is its largest service contract with Brazil’s oil & gas giant Petrobras, for the delivery of offshore drilling services.

Under the contract that is a result of a competitive process, Halliburton will provide integrated drilling services for development and exploration wells across several offshore fields in Brazil, over a three-year period.

The work will see the U.S. company provide the iCruise intelligent rotary steerable system (RSS) to reduce well time and place wells accurately, and LOGIX automation and remote operations platform to improve well construction consistency and performance, as well as its ultra-deep resistivity service, EarthStar, to position production boreholes and map reservoirs.

According to Halliburton, the BaraLogix real-time service will be deployed to reduce lost time through advanced hydraulic software, surface measurement automation, and predictive analytics.

Furthermore, the plan includes the utilization of several other exclusive technologies such as Cerebro in-bit sensing and the introduction of the Reservoir Xaminer formation testing service for structural reservoir complexities.

The contract is set to begin this year.

In terms of other news from the company worth mentioning, last month Halliburton announced its intention to purchase Optime Subsea, a Norwegian provider of subsea solutions for the oil & gas industry, following the signature of a definitive agreement .

The acquisition will see Optime Subsea’s umbilical-less technology integrated into Halliburton’s Testing and Subsea division, among other things.
