UK ROV under construction for Spanish subsea services provider

UK’s Forum Energy Technology (FET) has secured a contract to supply a work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) system and a Dynacon launch and recovery system (LARS) to Spanish maritime survey and ROV services operator ACSM.

The FET Perry XLX EVO II will be delivered in the third quarter of 2025 to support construction, drilling, pipeline and platform inspection, survey, salvage, cleaning and dredging.

The ROV is being manufactured at FET’s facility in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, the UK.

According to the company, the XLX EVO II ROV system is equipped with the latest ICE Unity Control System, incorporating remote operations and machine learning and features significantly enhanced performance across the full range of demanding intervention and survey tasks.

“We are proud of the longstanding relationship we have with ACSM and look forward to continuing work with our peers in delivering cutting edge ROV operations in the energy sector,” said Kevin Taylor , FET’s Vice President Operations – Subsea.

“Our Perry XLX EVO II, coupled with the robust Dynacon LARS system, is built to provide innovative solutions to challenging subsea operations and is equipped to perform reliably in hostile environments around the world.”

In terms of other news coming from FET that are worth mentioning, the UK company in May 2024 secured a contract with a Mexican subsea company for the delivery of one of its work-class ROVs.

The news came a month after FET had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a UAE-based underwater inspections provider to collaborate on the development of electric thrusters for ROVs.
