A construction support vessel (CSV) owned by Norway’s Solstad Maritime is set to return to work for DeepOcean in 2027 instead of beginning a five-year contract with Italian cabling giant Prysmian Group as announced in 2024.
Under a contract defined as very large, meaning it is worth between $50 million and $100 million, Normand Ocean will be on duty for DeepOcean for a firm duration of three years, plus two yearly options, scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
The CSV a couple of months ago secured a one-year contract extension with DeepOcean , set to commence on January 1, 2026, in direct continuation of the current contract.
After that, the vessel was supposed to begin a firm contract with Prysmian during the first or second quarter of 2027 and run until 2032, with an additional two-year option. However, this contract will be delivered by another CSV in the Solstad fleet.
“With these commitments, both vessels are secured with long-term clients into the next decade,” Solstad said.
Built in 2014, Normand Ocean is an advanced DP2 subsea construction vessel equipped with a 150-ton active heave-compensated subsea crane. The 107-meter-long vessel is owned by Solstad Maritime, in which Solstad Offshore holds an ownership share of 27,3%.
