Norwegian energy data and intelligence company TGS has wrapped up a multi-client reprocessing project, which enhances seismic data for hydrocarbon potential in acreage off the coast of Sierra Leone, Africa.

The completion of the Sierra Leone Fusion 3D (Vision) multi-client reprocessing project entailed a full reprocessing from field tapes of a 7,476 square kilometer area through a comprehensive pre-stack depth migration sequence, utilizing advanced ML-based denoise and deghosting, adaptive demultiple and advanced depth imaging workflows, including DM-FWI, to deliver clearer imaging of Upper Cretaceous plays in Sierra Leone’s high-potential basin.

TGS claims that the project merges multiple surveys it acquired between 2008 and 2014, placing strong emphasis on preserving AVO fidelity throughout the data, perceived to enable companies to perform advanced reservoir characterization workflows and assess AVO plays with greater confidence.

David Hajovsky , Executive Vice President, Multi-Client at TGS, commented: “Sierra Leone sits within a proven yet underexplored segment of the West African Atlantic Margin, where access to consistent, high-quality seismic data is critical for informed exploration decisions.

“The Fusion 3D project strengthens the regional subsurface framework, enabling companies to place individual prospects into a broader geological context and evaluate opportunity with greater confidence as interest in the basin continues to build.”

With the addition of what TGS describes as significantly improved seismic data in the country’s offshore basins, the firm expands its portfolio of multi-client seismic data in Africa, furthering its commitment to advancing resource development and hydrocarbon exploration across the continent, allowing operators to evaluate opportunities in Sierra Leone and beyond.

The finalization of this assignment comes shortly after the firm revealed the opening of an imaging center in Malaysia for multi-client projects throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
