N-Sea vessel to sport permanent integrated geotechnical package

Dutch N-Sea Group has appointed GeoForce Technical Services, part of Oceanscan and the wider Venterra Group, to deliver a fully integrated shallow water geotechnical solution on a dedicated vessel as well as across its vessel fleet.

At the beginning of the second quarter of the year, the companies will deploy a bespoke geotechnical package permanently integrated onto an N-Sea vessel, targeting offshore energy and transmission projects.

James McDonald , Managing Director of GeoForce Technical Services, said: “By permanently mobilising the vessel with an integrated geotechnical spread, together we remove the uncertainty of vessel‑of‑opportunity methods and provide a proven, ready‑to‑deploy solution.”

As part of the scope, GeoForce will deliver end-to-end support through specialist geotechnical acquisition and analysis, including seabed characterization, sediment analysis, core penetration testing and fully integrated deliverables to support ground model development.

According to N-Sea, these insights will directly support route optimization and installation design, giving a clearer, high-resolution understanding of subsurface conditions and derisking critical engineering decisions ahead of infrastructure installation.

“We are excited to bring this collaboration with GeoForce to the market as N‑Sea expands its offering to clients in both Renewables and Oil & Gas. While we have delivered shallow geotechnical services on a project‑specific basis, this partnership enables a major step forward,” said Patrick Defilet , Survey Director of N-Sea.

“By adding a permanently mobilised geotechnical spread to our in‑house geophysical solutions, we can provide a faster, more efficient and fully integrated platform, supporting our ambition to grow and diversify across the offshore energy sector.”
