ACSM, a Spanish provider of solutions for submarine cable installation, as of recently part of Prysmian Group, is carrying out a major upgrade of its 2003-built offshore support vessel (OSV).

According to ACSM’s reports, the OSV Genesis is currently undergoing improvements and upgrades at the shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, also including a crane with active heave compensation (AHC) delivered by Heila Cranes already been installed on deck.

The OSV is the company’s newest acquisition, permanently equipped with a 200HP UHD WC remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The 90.20-meter-long vessel was built in Norway in 2003.

Genesis is suited for construction support, ROV inspection and intervention, route clearance, pre-lay grapnel run (PLGR), mattress installation, geophysical and geotechnical survey activities.

Of note, ACSM was recently acquired by Italian cabling giant Prysmian Group. As communicated in January , Prysmian said that integrating the Spanish firm will broaden its range of solutions for energy and telecom customers as a one-stop shop and accelerate the full vertical integration of its submarine activities.
