Brazilian oil and gas company PRIO, formerly known as PetroRio, has brought online another well at its subsea tie-back project in the Campos basin off the coast of Brazil.
PRIO has begun production from the fourth producing well at the Wahoo field , stabilizing its production at 10,000 barrels of oil per day. As a result, the firm has completed the start-up of all producing wells planned for this development project.
The company intends to limit the field’s total production to 40,000 barrels of oil per day. The first oil from the fourth well comes months after production started at the third producing well on the Wahoo field.
Previously, PRIO also brought on stream the first producing well followed by the second one once the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Natural Renewable Resources (Ibama) granted an operating license to the company.
The license was given after the Brazilian player obtained approval for the installation of the field production development system and the interconnection of wells to the FPSO Valente , formerly known as Frade.
PRIO received an amendment from Ibama a few months ago regarding the drilling license for the Frade field, authorizing the company to drill up to 14 new wells.
