Shell Global Solutions International, a subsidiary of the UK-headquartered energy giant Shell, has hired Japan’s engineering player Chiyoda Corporation to handle engineering and procurement work for its potential future projects around the globe.
Chiyoda has signed an enterprise framework agreement (EFA) for engineering and procurement services with Shell to support potential future projects globally, building on the duo’s existing collaboration that enables the Japanese firm to lend the UK player a hand on major projects worldwide for over 50 years.
This EFA, which is perceived to establish a flexible framework that supports timely access to Chiyoda’s engineering and procurement expertise as project needs emerge, draws on the firm’s experience in the delivery of complex energy projects.
The agreement is designed to enable faster mobilization and enhanced integration between the two companies, supporting improved cost and schedule confidence, enhancing project execution predictability, and enabling the UK giant to respond more effectively to evolving market and project conditions.
Chiyoda claims that it partners with customers from the earliest stages of project development to realize business co-creation, while aiming to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
Before the Strait of Hormuz closure, QatarEnergy booked Chiyoda on a front-end engineering design (FEED) assignment for the North Field West (NFW) LNG onshore facilities in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
