Two parallel Estonian reports concerning Estonia’s new shipping police have now been presented. The reports look at how the legislation can be developed and what is needed to persuade shipping companies to register their ships in the Estonian shipping registry. In a degree project, the first mate on the Via Mare, Siim Sokk, recommends among other things that the tax paid by seafarers be reduced by 10 per cent.
