Engineering News reports that the first and largest part of the project to widen and deepen Durban’s harbour mouth is on track for completion in March 2010. Freight logistics company Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) reports that the primary aim of the project is to improve the safety of navigation of vessels entering or leaving the port. The project will also allow larger post-Panamax vessels to enter the harbour.
