Oilfield giants Schlumberger and Smith International have agreed to merge in a stock for stock for stock transaction which will change the worldwide oil services landscape.

Smith’s shareholders are set to receive 0.69 Schlumberger shares for each Smith share they hold, and the share valuation of US $45.84 per Smith share is a 37.5% premium on the closing share price of both companies on 18 February.
