The Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CFNEC) in far north Queensland says there needs to be extensive community consultation over no-take zones in the Coral Sea. The Government has decided it will not put a blanket ban on fishing in the Coral Sea, but will examine the possibility of establishing no-take zones in Commonwealth waters from the Torres Strait to southern New South Wales.
