Scandlines A/G has signed an agreement with Volkswerft Stralsund in Mecklenborg-Vorpommeren to build two new ferries for the Gedser–Rostock service. The vessels, which have been in the pipeline for several years, will be the first newbuildings of the Scandlines fleet for 13 years. The duo will be ready for service in the summer of 2012.
