The 4th European Conference on Production Technologies in Shipbuilding will address all topics concerning the outfitting in ship production. It will take place in Papenburg, Germany, April 29-30, 2010.
The industry gathering reflects that innovative ship designs and optimized production techniques are key factors for the success of European shipbuilders in the market for complex one-of-a-kind ships. Maintaining and improving the market position of German and European shipbuilders requires developing strategies to improve safe and environmentally friendly ships with decreased life cycle costs. Improvements in manufacturing processes will increase productivity and quality. Research, development and innovation are gaining importance to improve competitiveness in a global market.
The keynote will be given by Bernhard Meyer, Managing Director of Meyer Werft. Dr Alexander Nürnberg, Chairman of the German Marine and Offshore Equipment Industries Association (VDMA), will present the challenges for the marine industry until 2015. These two introductions into a field of utmost importance for the European maritime industry will be followed by 14 technical presentations covering a broad range of specialists’ views. A technical tour to the Meyer Werft concludes the programme.
The ECPTS 2010 will attract a large international audience with leading representatives and decision-makers from design and production, engine and equipment manufacturers, service providers, classification societies, shipping companies, research institutes and universities. Hence, the conference provides an excellent forum where all stakeholders learn from each other and return home with plenty of fresh ideas and practical solutions.
