Energy service giant Schlumberger has acquired a company with specialised expertise in complex geology including sub-salt, compressions, and shale-play types. Schlumberger is acquiring Igeoss, headquartered in Montpellier, France, and in Houston, Texas, which provides geomechanical methods and tools to improve understanding of 3D geological structures, and modelling of natural faults and fractures. Igeoss, which was formed in 2004, will become part of Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS), and Laurent Maerten, co-founder and company president said joining Schlumberger will provide geoscientists with wider access to Igeoss expertise.
