Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has recently issued Decree No 32/2010/ND-CP regarding the management of the operation of foreign fishing vessels in Vietnamese waters. Under the decree, foreign fishermen are required to apply for a license to fish in local waters. The license is valid for up to twelve months for aquatic exploitation, and up to 24 months for aquatic-related activities. The new decree is said to create more favourable conditions for foreign fishermen operating in local waters. To apply for licenses, foreign fishermen are required to complete entry procedures including producing related documents such as their fishing license, boat registration certificate and technical safety registration certificates on their boats.
